John Hamer is Division President of The Horton Group's Select Insurance Division. Horton Select addresses the property/liability insurance needs of the agency's small business clients. It also serves policyholders in many of the agency's trade group & association programs. Horton Select teams work with a limited number of insurance carrier partners who share our desire to service small business in a special way. John is responsible for new account development and providing a high level of service to clients.

John's knowledge of the traditional insurance marketplace, alternative risk financing methods and retail & wholesale distribution contribute to Horton's reputation as a leader in niche marketing. He joined Horton as part of their 1998 acquisition of the Laub Group, a former WI-based independent insurance agency. Prior to joining Laub in 1988, John spent eleven years with Maryland Casualty Company as Senior Property/Casualty Underwriter and Regional Accounting Manager. John earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Marquette University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the Keller Graduate School of Management.

John is a member of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) and the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety. Married with four children, John resides in Wauwatosa, WI, while actively managing Select operations in Horton's Wisconsin offices.
