Mike Wojcik calling himself a “project person” is a bit of an understatement. Mike is one of the founding principals of Horton Benefits Services, an endeavor started in 1989 that now accounts for over 30 percent of The Horton Group’s overall business. He also spearheaded Horton’s Public Entity Division, which provides both employee benefit and risk management services to schools, municipalities, non-profits and hospitals.

The Senior Vice President of Horton Benefits Services prides himself on the longevity of the relationships he has fostered over the years.

“Clients quickly realize that their priorities are my priorities,” Mike said. “My number one concern is to protect my clients’ financial well-being by building a sound benefit program.”

Mike gives credit to his team of talented professionals for making the Horton difference a reality. Through their claims advocacy, employee education programs and other day-to-day services, Mike’s team works diligently and takes no relationship for granted.

“Our mission is to provide employee benefit solutions that control costs, add value, and improve the health and productivity of employees,” Mike said. “Without my team, I would not be able to deliver on that promise.”

There is a huge disconnect between the reality of health benefits in America and what employees perceive. Mike feels his responsibility is to engage employees so they’re conscious of their benefits plan, realize the true cost of that plan to their employer, and that they understand the importance of wellness initiatives.

“I don’t just shop plans once a year and wave goodbye,” Mike said. “My team and I are constantly working with clients to provide plan education, online benefit tools and wellness education – most notably on-site health screenings. These are the kinds of strategies that can change the culture of a workplace and lower costs over the long run.”

Mike serves on numerous advisory boards of national insurance carriers and related industries, including the governance board of a local hospital and several industry government relations committees. Mike is considered an industry expert for a reason – he works tirelessly for his long-standing clients and has never shied away from taking on a project that will better the service he provides.
