With over 30 years of experience in employee health benefits, Rich Kauzlarich understands the important role he can play in the long-term success of a client.

"Aside from payroll, health benefits is typically a business' largest expense," Rich explained. "My goal is to lower the insurance premium through a mixture of plan designs and other initiatives such as consumer driven products."

Rich, who started at The Horton Group in 1994, feels that his company differentiates itself from the competition through the delivery of services and regular client communication. Rich credits his experienced support staff for helping clients navigate the puzzling paperwork that occurs with providing employee health benefits. His support staff is also very knowledgeable in the increasingly popular consumer-directed health care options.

"A lot of my clients don't believe they are large enough for consumer-directed options like Health Savings Accounts," Rich explained. "But my staff and I work extraordinarily hard to present the facts to clients and discuss what would be the best fit for their employees."

Specializing in businesses with 10 to 100 employees, Rich feels that national insurance brokers only commit real resources to larger clients, often neglecting his client base.

In addition to employee health benefits, Rich specializes in pension plans, 401(k) plans and individual life and health plans.

Until recently, Rich played shortstop in a hardball league and remains an avid fan of baseball. He and his wife live in Orland Park and enjoy spending time with their three children who are now pursuing professional careers.
