Client Specialist - Claims Management
Leslie is a Client Specialist in Claims Management for Horton Risk Advisory Solutions. Her primary responsibilities are providing advocacy and high-level claims consulting for Horton’s clients. Leslie tracks complicated claims for resolution and communicates her findings to clients. She coordinates claim reviews between clients and carriers to foster discussion about claim issues and claim management action plans. Leslie’s responsibilities also include evaluating coverage issues, providing instructions for submitting complex claim losses and making program management recommendations.
Leslie’s career in insurance began in 1997. Prior to joining Horton in January of 2015, Leslie served as a Senior Claims Representative for DHL/Exel Logistics. Before this, she was a Paralegal Coordinator for the Employment Law Group of Honda of America Manufacturing. Previously, she served as Assistant Manager for Claims Operations at Sedgwick Claims Management Services. Prior to this, Leslie served as a Senior Claims Representative for The Hartford/Specialty Risk Services for The Limited Corporation. In her previous position, she served as a Claims Adjuster for ESIS.
Leslie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Horton. As a paralegal at Honda of America Manufacturing, Leslie saw how employment law attorneys resolve issues that arise when employment benefits programs and workers’ compensation programs overlap. Leslie’s experience working for Fortune 500 companies and servicing claims on their accounts has given her a keen understanding of what matters most to a business from a claims standpoint. She also has a strong appreciation for the role of risk management in insurance today.
“As our world grows smaller, new risks emerge that we all need to consider: economic risk, cyber risk, employment risk,” said Leslie. “Insurance is part of the solution, but better education about the potential risks clients face and development of business practices to contain those risks needs to be at the forefront of our discussions.”
Leslie is passionate about client service. She particularly enjoys coming up with solutions to clients’ most complex problems. As a client advocate, Leslie’s roles may include motivating a carrier to consider alternative action plans, providing direction on steps needed to prove a loss or exploring coverage opportunities on multiple policies.
“Our clients are busy running their businesses and filling many roles within their companies,” said Leslie. “Client advocacy is only successful when our customers have the peace of mind of knowing they can rely on us to help them manage their insurable problems to the best resolution.”
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Leslie attended the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. In January 2015, Leslie and her family moved from Columbus, Ohio to Chicago. In her time away from work, Leslie enjoys year-round outdoor activities with her family and exploring Chicago’s many attractions.
