Ryan Carlson is a Client Executive for Horton’s Benefit Solutions Practice. In this role, Ryan is responsible for providing expert employee benefits consulting, bringing new clients on board, and servicing and retaining existing clients. He is part of a team of employee benefits-focused specialists dedicated to delivering innovative healthcare solutions to employers.
Ryan joined Horton as a Client Executive in May of 2015. Prior to joining Horton, Ryan served as an Account Executive at USI Insurance Services, previously Wells Fargo Insurance Services and Acordia of Indiana. Ryan began his insurance career in 2004.
One of Ryan’s most memorable experiences was when a previous client asked Ryan’s new agency if he could be assigned to their business since they had “never received the same high level of service” that Ryan had provided to them. This same unwavering commitment to customer service is what Ryan brings to his role at Horton.
“What differentiates a good broker from an exceptional one is the capacity to recognize and understand an employer’s needs and then deliver timely, accurate solutions to meet those needs,” said Ryan.
Ryan’s wide array of experience includes self-funded and fully-insured medical plans, stop-loss insurance, employer plan implementation and enrollment coordination, employer benefit administration systems, human resources consultation and support, and strategic solutions for Affordable Care Act compliance.
“The unprecedented reforms required by the Affordable Care Act have been challenging for employers,” said Ryan. “As a result, employers need brokers who not only deliver insurance, but can also act as knowledgeable consultants.”
Ryan earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. He grew up in Elkhart, IN where he currently resides with his own family.
