OCR Begins New Phase of HIPAA Audits (Webinar)

As a part of its continued efforts to assess compliance with the HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rules, the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has begun its second phase regarding audits of covered entities and their business associates.

OCR has stated that it will be auditing all types of covered entities, including employer sponsored health plans. All employers who sponsor a health plan have responsibility under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules. Now is a great time to make sure your organization has the proper policies and procedures in place.

She has also worked as a legal researcher for Thomson Reuters. Prior to obtaining her law degree, Regan worked as an account manager in a leading Minneapolis area insurance agency, so she understands the issues facing employee benefit consulting firms and agencies.
