Please join us in January 2016 for OSHA Recordkeeping 2.0 – New Requirements seminar series as Dave Valentine of Horton Safety Consultants, presents an update on the OSHA Recordkeeping regulation (29 CFR 1904).  This seminar is specifically for employers that are required to prepare and maintain records of serious occupational injuries and illnesses, using the OSHA 300 Log.

OSHA Recordkeeping 2.0 – New Requirements

Most employers in the US are required to maintain the OSHA 300 log and post the 300A form by February 1 every year. Accurate recordkeeping can prevent costly OSHA violations and overstating the actual number of “recordable” injuries that create additional problems.

OSHA announced NEW requirements effective January 1, 2016 regarding who must maintain logs and injuries that require notification of the agency within 24 hours of occurrence. OSHA has also proposed sweeping changes that will require most employers to file their OSHA logs and summary forms electronically.

Another major change is the inclusion of staffing firms in the requirement to maintain OSHA logs. Staffing firms were previously exempt from reporting requirements, but as these employers have ventured into staffing construction and manufacturing industries, the need for them to maintain records has become important.

These new requirements and proposed changes will be thoroughly discussed at this workshop. Additional recordkeeping aspects covered include:

• Overview of the OSHA recordkeeping standard
• How to complete and maintain an accurate OSHA log
• How to determine the difference between first aid and medical treatment
• How to prevent certain injuries from becoming recordable
• How to properly calculate the total number of hours worked
• How to calculate OSHA incident rates and benchmarking
• Recordkeeping retention requirements

 Unfortunately, many employers do not maintain accurate OSHA 300 logs which subjects them to possible violations or making their accident experience appear worse than their peers. This workshop will provide all of the details necessary to accurately maintain OSHA logs and comply with new reporting and notification requirements.
