Tony Hopkins Named Insurance Journal’s 2019 Agent of the Year

Waukesha, WI – Horton is pleased to announce that on January 13th, 2020 Insurance Journal named Horton’s Tony Hopkins as one of their 2019 “Agents of the Year.” The report featured 20 agents from across different sections of the United States who exemplified the profile of a successful independent agent in today’s insurance arena. Although sales are one specific measure of this nomination, the primary focus of this award weighed on the passion, professionalism, and specialization that they commit themselves to in their strategy for all of their customers.

Hopkins has been with the Horton Group since 2004, his very first employer out of college as an intern. His client focus includes a mix of sectors including manufacturing, welding supply, and industrial gas distribution, moving and storage, and mergers-acquisitions. The customers he works with are located across the U.S. with multiple site operations. 

“I’d be lying if I said this job was easy. It’s a job that challenges me every day. Yet, that’s why I stay here. Couple that with becoming a shareholder and joining the group of newer owners who are going to steward the business into the future – the works with clients keeps me happy and glad to be doing what I do,” Hopkins said.

Hopkins firmly believes this recognition is a testament to Horton and the team of people who work here every day. “We can laugh. We have fun.  We can get through the tough hurdles. It’s easy to do that when you have a sense of humility and humor, navigating the challenges our customers face every day together as a team.”

Doubling down on the theory of specialization, as well as remaining immersed in the insurance industry and clients’ industries, has been an incredible key to his success. Starting early to achieve various insurance designations and paying attention to drivers of industries created growth potential that he could’ve never imagined. “If you don’t know insurance, it’s not easy to sell it,” he closed.
