The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) recently added 34 drugs to its List of Antineoplastic and Other Hazardous Drugs in Healthcare Settings, 2016.
According to NIOSH, about 8 million U.S. health care workers may be exposed to hazardous drugs in the workplace. These workers could come into contact with hazardous drugs when either preparing them or administering them to patients.
The list offers updated general guidance on workplace safety for handling the drugs, along with other safety considerations for employers.
