Pedestrian Safety Awareness

In this country 5,000 Pedestrians are killed each year. Another 64,000 are seriously injured. Urban areas are known to have higher pedestrian death rates. Be aware of your surroundings, know that pedestrians can pop up anywhere even on busy highways, look for cross walks before turning; don’t contribute to the pedestrian death toll.

Loss Prevention Tips

  • Note that Pedestrians can appear at any time.
    •  Popping up in unexpected places.
  • At night or in poor weather conditions Pedestrians can be tough to see. Slow down and keep an eye out.
  • Approach Corners and crosswalks slowly. Be prepared to stop.
  • Keep your head on a swivel in parking lost, people come from all angles. Between cars, middle of rows, outside of cross walks. Keep your head on a swivel.
  • Proceed with extra caution near School Zones. Maintain the School Zone speed limit and pay attention for crossing guards and small children who may not look before crossing.
  • Never Park, Stop in, or Block a Crosswalk
  • Look out for bus stops.
    • Children are often playing or running near them and rarely pay attention to traffic.
