Chris Knox is the Director of Sales at The Horton Group. Chris works closely with the existing business insurance teams of Illinois and Indiana to provide a superior level of client service to the marketplace. He executes strategies that will help achieve growth, profitability and client satisfaction goals while ultimately helping small businesses achieve a higher level of performance.

He leads the entire service and sales operation within Select to execute strategies that will help achieve growth, profitability, and client satisfaction goals while ultimately helping small businesses achieve a higher level of performance.

Chris brings 16 years of insurance experience to his Horton clients. Prior to joining Horton in 2016, Chris served as a Sales Manager and Sales Representative at The Hartford in the territories of Arizona, Nevada, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

“My experience has given me a great perspective on the different models agencies operate in – both good and bad,” said Chris.  “I take the good of what I have seen and add that to Horton’s already successful foundation.”

Chris sees this as a time of extraordinary change for the insurance industry, especially in the area of small business.

“Technology continues to be the hot button, with enormous amounts of capital being invested in this arena, specifically with disruptors,” said Chris. With an aging workforce and lack of young talent, there are extraordinary opportunities for firms willing to invest in themselves.”

Chris views specialization as a key component of client advocacy and successful development of new producers.

“A team that is specialized provides a greater level of client advocacy by helping clients with the insurable and uninsurable risks associated with their businesses,” said Chris.

Chris attended Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History Education. He grew up in Coal Valley, Illinois and currently resides in Chicago with his wife and four children.  When not at work, Chris enjoys exploring the city with his family and camping during the summer.
