With over a decade of experience serving on the advisory boards of numerous national carriers, Ken Olson is deeply embedded in the insurance industry. Ken has married his strong carrier relationships with Horton Benefit Services to lend a voice to the company’s growing client base.

“I have the unique position of taking the concerns of Horton clients and sharing them with decision makers at major insurance carriers,” Ken explained. “These advisory boards provide the necessary platform to help brokers and carriers improve plan designs.”

Ken feels that a company’s long-term strategic plan and employee benefits approach are dependent on one another. A well-managed health plan and a healthier workforce drives fewer claims costs, better insurance rates, increased productivity, lower absenteeism and a host of other positive outcomes.

“Health plans are always thought of as reactive devices,” Ken said. “What we desire is to create proactive plans for proactive businesses that are ready to embrace wellness initiatives and improve employee communication. ”

Considered to be an industry expert, Ken was interviewed by The Chicago Tribune to analyze Health Savings Accounts when they were first introduced to the market. Ken values the infrastructure of The Horton Group and sees great potential for tremendous growth.

“Horton is a company that embraces change and strives to deliver services better than the competition,” Ken said. “Their operations work off an audit process that is very sound – nothing falls through the cracks here.”

Before joining the insurance industry over 20 years ago, Ken was a professional photographer. His work varied from fashion shoots and rock concerts to documenting disaster areas for the American Red Cross. Ken and his wife live in St. Charles, Illinois as empty nesters after raising three children, the youngest currently attending Illinois State University for Film and Digital Media.
