Luis Paz is a Vice President of Horton Safety Consultants. He joined the consultancy in 1999 and brought a vast amount of experience from his prior seven years working in the railcar, scrap and industrial painting industries.

“I first met Gary Glader, the President of Horton Safety Consultants, during my employment at a scrap recycling operation. After getting to know Gary and learning of the wide range of safety services he performed, I wasn’t only inspired by the diversity of Horton’s safety clientele; I was also intrigued by the challenge of expanding my knowledge base and exploring new opportunities which resulted in accepting an offer to assist Gary with further growth and development of Horton’s safety entity. Joining Gary and Horton was ultimately one of the best career decisions I’ve ever made.”

Prior to joining Horton’s safety consulting division, Luis worked in various safety positions in the railcar, scrap and industrial painting industries. “I learned so much in such a short period of time, but I quickly realized my self-growth became a bit stagnant. I wasn’t satisfied with the big block walls I hit in my career path. I needed more. During my first month with Horton Safety, I was asked to present a topic with which I was unfamiliar and had little time to prepare. Although it was among the most intimidating scenarios I faced in my new role as a consultant, the challenge gave me an adrenaline rush I’ll never forget and one I continue to pursue. The years I’ve been with Horton have allowed me one unique experience after another; each of them accompanied by the extremely rewarding feeling of satisfaction knowing my work makes a difference to my clients!”

Away from work, Luis enjoys time with his three sons and working on home projects. “I’m happiest when I do simple things with my family. I like being active and look forward to new projects I can take on. Life doesn’t get much better than this.”
