Tashia Nelms

Tashia Nelms is a Population Health Client Manager within Horton’s wellness solutions team. Tashia’s daily responsibilities revolve around bringing clinical insights to and offering solutions for Population Health. She collaborates with her team to address and develop program recommendations based on data analytics and clinical review.

While Tashia is fresh to the insurance industry, she has long since dedicated her career to Population Health. Tashia worked as an experienced nurse since 2006, and is skilled in areas such as telehealth technology, health promotion and disease prevention, whole health, and wellness coaching and patient safety. Tashia welcomes this career transition in filling the role of Client Manager for Population Health.

“I love being a part of our clients’ wellness committees,” Tashia says. “Bringing health and wellness solutions and resources that they can incorporate into their lives, as well as their families’ lives, is rewarding.”

Tashia uses her clinical knowledge to bridge the health and wellness gap for clients and producers. Tashia’s personal philosophy on client advocacy is to listen to the client’s needs and provide them with the tools to build a culture of wellness. Having a positive attitude is foundational to her philosophy.

“I take a pragmatic approach to developing solutions,” she says. “I love a white board. I use the four Cs to get through any problem: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.”

Tashia lives with her husband and their two pets – a dog, Jersey, and a cat, Mocha. She is a mother to three adult children. Tashia’s hometown is Austin, Texas, but growing up as a “military brat” she lived in five different states and spent three years in Germany.
