End of the Federal Emergencies
The White House announced that it intends to end the national and public health emergencies on May 11, 2023. This will end three years of COVID-related relief requiring group health plans to cover COVID-19 diagnostic testing and vaccines and extending deadlines normally applicable under ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA. As the federal emergencies come to an end, employers of all sizes offering group health plans will be impacted. David Flotten has over 24 years of experience in employee benefits and employment law with a particular focus on health and welfare plan compliance and employee benefits strategic planning. He has helped employers deal with difficult compliance issues related to ERISA, health reform, HIPAA, and more. David regularly presents seminars on the ACA, employee benefits compliance and other HR topics, including for the College of Continuing & Professional Studies at the University of Minnesota. He has also taught the PHR/SPHR and SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP exam prep courses.
