Bob Shatkus is a Vice President for Horton’s Personal Insurance department. Bob is part of a team of specialists dedicated to delivering the comprehensive individual insurance solutions and protection tailored to the needs of individuals and families.

Bob joined Horton in 2018. Before his position at Horton, Bob served as a Lead Sales Representative with State Farm. During his time at State Farm, he was provided with a foundational knowledge of the industry and joining Horton’s Personal Lines department gives him even further expertise to continue his best attribute: “doing what is right for our clients and handling my work.”

Bob sees a great potential shift in the current state of insurance. “The internet has really changed how we do business. More and more people are getting their insurance online; however, it is important to realize all policies are not the same. It is important that they talk to a professional.  We are here to ensure they have the proper coverage for any situation,” said Bob.

“It ’s extremely difficult to see the devastation, both financial and emotional, that an uninsured loss can cause. There is only one thing worse than telling a client that they are not covered and that they could have been. It is our goal to avoid that potential situation for any of our clients. In an era where people continue to hear that it is all about saving “15% in 15 minutes,”  I am encouraged that my clients value the comprehensive protection we provide, at a very competitive price. A combination of the right coverage at the right price is the true definition of value, and what we aspire to for all of our clients.

Bob stresses in his philosophy that the root of service and advocacy comes down to “doing what is right by our customers.” It’s crucial to understand their world, even better than they do. “Relating situations in ways the customer can understand them is imperative. If we can relate to our customers and help them manage risk in a way that they can understand, there is a good chance they will become a lifetime customer,” said Bob.

Bob was raised in Frankfort Square, Illinois and is the oldest of four siblings. He recently married his wife, Kristina in June of 2023. In Bob’s free time, he loves to watch sports, eat food, and travel. In the summer you can catch Bob out on the golf course, chasing for the second hole in one, or out by the pool.
