Dan Mongoven is the Horton’s Benefits Practice Leader – Wisconsin. He is responsible for consulting clients on new, innovative and cost-saving programming. He also strategizes with clients around benefit packages to help them attract and retain top talent.

Dan has worked at Horton since 2011 and has enjoyed partnering with owners and operators of diverse businesses to help them grow their enterprises. His wealth of experience, combined with the comprehensive resources that Horton provides, helped him gain the expertise and tools needed to provide his clients with the best programs and products.

“My top priority each time I work with a client is to make sure they understand the insurance coverages that best enhance their needs and protect their employees,” Dan said. “I want to be a true resource for them. Businesses must deal with complex decisions daily, and I want to be there to eliminate any anxiety and make their jobs easier. Employee benefits will continue to serve as an instrument employers use to attract and retain top talent, and I enjoy using my expertise to develop those plans.”

The economy is constantly changing, but Dan believes that companies still need to prioritize their insurance needs: “As an employer, whether you look at insurance as a necessary evil, a competitive advantage, and/or a major component of the total compensation package, it deserves a lot of attention,” he says. “Insurance is a large line item spend for every employer, and we take our work to optimize that benefit very seriously.”

In a competitive business landscape, one aspect that remains the same to Dan is the importance of relationship-building: “It is crucial to earn the trust of my clients and ensure them that Horton is always looking out for their best interests,” he said. “I enjoy building long-lasting and meaningful relationships where I can serve as a trusted advisor and consultant who is integral in meeting the unique benefit needs of each client I serve.”

Dan spent all his life in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. He currently lives in Cedarburg, Wisconsin (the town he grew up in) with his wife Lindsay and their sons, Joey, Max and Ben. Outside of the office, one of Dan’s biggest passions is basketball. He serves as president of the local Youth Basketball Club in Cedarburg, and you can typically find him tuning into a Marquette game on television or watching his kids play a game in person. He also enjoys spending time outside, visiting his in-laws’ lake house, traveling to Florida with his family and playing poker. Dan has recently taken up “ice baths” and finds joy (and relief) plunging in sub-40-degree water, reveling in the “discomfort.” Ask him about it – he loves to share!
