Since joining The Horton Group in 1997, Jason has spearheaded a number of initiatives in various Horton divisions. Highlights include overseeing Horton’s expansion within the Captive space during the last two decades, launching new ventures in Internet-based risk management, leading Horton’s new business development efforts and Property/Casualty operations in Illinois, and working on Horton’s Healthcare team. He attributes his success to the dynamic energy found throughout The Horton Group.

“Horton continually reinvents itself and never sits still,” Jason explained. “In 2001, we saw an opportunity for growth in China and Horton created a Beijing office. In 2002, Horton formed a strategic partnership with Innovative Captive Strategies, and I was part of a team that has since placed 50+ Horton clients into multiple group captives. In 2008, our division was able to acquire an agency that specialized exclusively in placing medical malpractice insurance for large physician groups. Anyone with an entrepreneurial spirit would find working here to be extremely rewarding.”

As a Practice Leader in Horton’s Captive Division, Jason is responsible for the growth and service of various agency clients that benefit from this area of alternative specialization. He is also an active member of Horton’s Healthcare Practice, where he works with dozens of physicians and healthcare organizations.

“Horton has made significant investments in the captive space during the last decade, and we will continue to do so,” Jason said. “With more than half of medium/large businesses purchasing their insurance outside of the traditional marketplace, it’s imperative that we continue to lead the way in these new channels. I have seen first-hand the power and benefits that a well-constructed captive strategy can deliver for my clients. Bottom line – if you’re large enough to get into a Group Captive and good enough from a claims/safety perspective, I don’t know why you wouldn’t make that move.”

Jason stays busy with a number of industry activities. He acts as Horton’s liaison for multiple insurance companies and has had stints on the advisory boards of numerous carriers. He is also active in the mentoring of various Horton sales professionals who are new to the organization. Outside of Horton, he’s been a volunteer for Kaneland Travel Baseball since 2014, including a term as President (2016-2020) for this youth organization.

Prior to joining Horton, Jason spent five years working for Great American Insurance Company as a Commercial Insurance Underwriter – in Cincinnati and Chicago.
