Maddy Seyfarth is a Vice President in Horton’s Employee Benefits Division. She leads a team dedicated to helping clients navigate strategy, compliance, financial analysis and long-term planning. Maddy also plays an integral role in client service delivery, providing day-to-day consultation, leading negotiations and ensuring project timelines remain on track.
Maddy began her career in the industry nine years ago with no prior insurance background and quickly rose through the ranks by learning every facet of the business from the ground up. Having worked in each role she now oversees, she brings a deep, firsthand understanding of the client lifecycle – insight that shapes her high-level consultative approach and commitment to excellence.
Early in her career, Maddy had the opportunity to work alongside benefits professionals with decades of experience. Their mentorship helped shape her foundational knowledge and provided valuable lessons that still influence her work today. Now, as a leader herself, Maddy applies the same level of rigor and curiosity to each engagement, believing that honesty, thoroughness, realism and a constant appetite for learning are key to client success.
Known for her attention to detail and ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and relatable way, Maddy brings a calm, solutions-focused mindset to every client interaction. She believes that transparency, empathy, and accountability are essential qualities in a partner, and she approaches every project with that philosophy in mind.
Maddy is particularly excited about the future of the industry, seeing immense opportunities in the integration of AI and emerging technologies. She believes these tools will not only transform how benefits are managed but also enhance the service and strategy clients can expect from their advisors.
For Maddy, the most rewarding part of her work is hearing directly from clients and their employees, whether it’s a thank-you for resolving a complex issue or appreciation for a simple task that lifted a burden. “Those moments remind me why this work matters,” she says.
A Naperville native, Maddy spent nine years living in Chicago before recently moving to Clarendon Hills with her husband to be closer to family. When she’s not leading client strategy or mentoring her team, you can find her learning the ins and outs of landscaping or trying to sneak in a round of golf. With seven (and counting!) nieces and nephews nearby, family time is her favorite way to recharge.
