Paul Shaheen, RHU, REBC
SALES CONSULTANT - VICE PRESIDENT
You will never see Paul Shaheen dragging his feet. For over 25 years, Paul has been one of The Horton Group's busiest brokers, with his principal concentration on law firms and law professionals, above and beyond providing benefits expertise for industries such as nonprofit, architectural, manufacturing, construction and automotive.
To that end, Paul sees great value in client concentration.
"There is a real benefit to knowing the specific issues facing an industry," said Paul. "Knowing your client's particular field allows you to best help them achieve a higher level of performance. This is especially true for law firms, which place such a high premium on quality benefits for the purpose of finding and retaining top talent."
Paul has an intimate history with law. He worked at his father's law firm in (his native) Detroit for many years, both during and after his time attending the University of Michigan.
"All brokers say they will be available to business owners and their human resources team to assist with claims advocacy or help facilitate a proactive wellness program," said Paul, "but after talking with a number of clients who moved their business to Horton, I've found that our larger competitors have a hard time delivering these services - especially if the client isn't a Fortune 500 company. In my opinion, no other agency consistently deploys the level of talent and services as we do for small to mid sized companies.."
Paul argues that proactive communication is critical to a benefit plan's success. As such, Paul and his team proudly stay in constant contact with their customers.
Paul's involvement with the field of law extends beyond managing employee benefits. He is a long time sponsor/supporter of organizations such as the Association of Legal Administrators, The Women's Bar Association of Illinois, the Chicago Bar Foundation, and is also a Bronze Fellow with the Illinois Bar Foundation.
Outside of Horton, Paul resides in Orland Park, Illinois and is the proud father of three beautiful daughters. Also, he sings with the Meno Of Spirito!, and enjoys hockey, golf, reading, and travel.
