Robin Bettenhausen joined The Horton Group in 2001 managing the company’s benefits and Human Resources. During this time, Robin developed and implemented a wellness program, which received national recognition from the Wellness Council of America for the significant results the program delivered.
In December 2010, Robin became the Employee Benefits Consultant with a focus on mid-market organizations. “The mid-market sector is close to my heart. They typically have incredibly talented people, wearing multiple hats and juggling several different responsibilities. They need a consultant that will advocate on their behalf and help them strategize to ensure the benefit program fits in the company’s plans for the future. I advocate implementing client solutions which help drive down cost, work load and anxiety.”
Robin and her team take a holistic approach that involves multiple funding strategies, attention to claim reduction and wellness, and continual attention to the needs of the organization. “We ask our clients to challenge the way they may have done things in the past and together we determine if there is a way to do things differently and help with retention, severity of claims and overall cost.”
Given the recent changes in healthcare reform, the expertise Robin and The Horton Group have in regards to compliance, safe harbor from fees and penalties, and meeting minimum standards is critically important. “My job is to understand this complicated new law, continually stay on top of changes and additional guidance and to be proactive in giving you the solutions you need to navigate it.” Robin brings to her clients a proactive spirit and excellent planning through a customized approach. “Healthcare reform isn’t going away. As such, it should not be ignored, nor should we run from it. We need to customize a solution that will help protect your business and your employees. I constantly ask myself, ‘what more can we do today, so there are no surprises tomorrow?’ It is my job to solve a problem or prepare a client before an issue ever arises.”
Robin is firmly committed to excellent customer service. “It is my priority to stay on top of change and to know everything about your organization. I am constantly on the lookout for pitfalls along the way. It’s about developing a program that can be tailored to your needs.” To Bettenhausen, there is no problem too small or too large. “I enjoy what I do and take great pride in my work, meeting new people and learning about businesses.”
Robin grew up in the greater Chicago area and is married, has two children and currently lives in the South Suburbs. She is actively involved in the community and church.
