Ryan Smale serves as a Director of Sales for Horton. In this role, Ryan drives overall strategic direction and sales and organizational leadership, focusing on organic growth and new business development focusing specifically on the Construction Practice Group.

Joining Horton over 20 years ago, Ryan has built an impressive track record of strategic, operational and sales accomplishments. Ryan most recently served as Branch President of Horton’s Wisconsin operations where he focused on growth, profitability and an industry-leading client experience. Before that role, he was a Senior Vice President of Risk Advisory Solutions and Sales Team Leader, where he focused on providing a “level of service enabling Horton clients to be more efficient and profitable in running their organizations” and broadening Horton’s strategic footprint across the Midwest. Within these roles, Ryan has proven to be a successful leader and brings a strong reputation for developing people, inspiring teams, specialization evolution, and assisting customers in achieving their goals through varied insurance and risk management techniques.

As he continues the focus on growing Horton’s Construction Practice, Ryan says “We have tremendous opportunity to scale our business.  The team of Construction talent we have assembled is already operating at a very high level and is providing industry-leading and cutting-edge service to our clients.  As we continue to focus on serving the needs of construction firms that have complex risk management needs but limited internal resources to manage those risks, we will be looking to add innovative solutions and talent to help our clients continue growing their businesses.”

Ryan lives in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin with his wife, Becky, and two children. He enjoys spending time in Door County with his family, exercising, and coaching youth sports.
