What are the insurance requirements for the Ben’s Soft Pretzels?

Coverage required by FDD is as follows and will be included. Higher limits/other coverages may be required by your landlord, bank, customer venue, etc.

  • General Liability: $2MM per occurrence and $2MM in the aggregate.
    • “Per location” limits apply if multiple stores
  • “Fire damage” – replacement cost of business property and improvements and betterments (varies by location)
  • Workers Compensation
  • Umbrella Liability (as required by contract)
  • Auto Liability (for company owned vehicles/trailers)
  • Additional insured, waiver of subrogation, primary non-contributory language all included

What Coverages Does Ben’s Soft Pretzels Program Cover?

Business Owner’s Commercial Package Policy

A Business Owner’s Commercial Package Policy covers a majority of the exposures your location will face, including premises liability, product liability, stock/property damage coverage and loss of income. The coverages offered may include Fire, General Liability, Umbrella Liability and Auto Liability. This policy is the first one you will need when opening your bakery.

Worker’s Compensation Policy

A Worker’s Compensation Policy covers your employees’ medical costs and lost wages, should they be injured while working for you. You are required by state law to purchase this coverage as soon as you hire an employee.

Employment Practices Liability Insurance

An Employment Practices Liability Insurance protects you from lawsuits filed by your employees for allegations such as sexual harassment, wrongful termination, wage & hour disputes and suits filed by third parties due to harassment by your employees.
