Kevin Mershimer Voted In As IHLA’s 2020 President

South Bend, IN – FEBURARY 18^TH, 2020: The Horton Group would like to congratulate Senior Sales Executive Kevin Mershimer for being voted in as the 2020 President of the Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Association (IHLA). Prior to Kevin joining Horton, he spent 16 years serving as a Regional Manager for Lumbermen’s Underwriting Alliance, which is when Kevin became a member of the IHLA. Since becoming a member in 1998, Kevin has served on the Membership Committee, Golf Committee, Convention Committee, Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. Through all those committees, Kevin helped promote and grow the IHLA’s membership and now he will continue to help it grow by serving his one year term as President.

The IHLA was established in 1899 and has since grown with members in 27 states and three Canadian provinces. The IHLA is a nonprofit that consists of “wholesale brokers, equipment vendors, manufacturers, loggers, landowners and more.” This organization plays a crucial role in the development of the forest and wood industry. The IHLA focuses on improving the business climate for their members through industry promotions as well as legislatively. In the last ten years they have been responsible for six bills that protect the industry and the people who work in the industry.

Once a year the IHLA hosts a convention with over 1100 attendees who are all in the wood and forest industry. This event is a way for people within the industry to network with one another, discuss the accomplishments of the organization and what the IHLA has planned for the future. At this event, they recognize all the members and the hard work that they have done in able to have a platform to stand on to discuss the development of the wood and forest industry. As president, Kevin will continue to follow the IHLA’s mission, which is working to ensure a sustainable, affordable supply of quality North American hardwoods for the public good.
