MINNEAPOLIS, MN: The Horton Group, one of the largest privately-held insurance brokers in the United States, announced the opening of a new branch in Minneapolis this past August. Horton continues to expand its footprint by announcing the acquisition of Waypoint Insurance (Edina, MN) led by Ryan Brellenthin, who will join the newly established team in Minneapolis.

Waypoint Insurance Advisors was founded in 2008 by Ryan Brellenthin to focus on quality insurance solutions for individuals and businesses, specializing in commercial, home, auto, and real estate errors and omission coverages. With over 15 years of experience, Brellenthin always focused on property-casualty and risk management strategies for all customers.

“We’re incredibly excited to join Horton’s organization, and pairing with the new team members in Minneapolis. This opportunity propels us to join a truly industry-leading organization that delivers a full brokerage offering to customers,” Brellenthin said.

The Minneapolis branch will continue to operate as a full-service brokerage, offering a wide range of insurance and consulting services, including risk advisory, employee benefits, and safety consulting solutions.

“After the initial expansion in Minnesota in August, this strategic decision makes sense to continue that presence in Minnesota,” Dan Horton, President and Chief Executive Officer at the Horton Group, said. “Horton’s strong Midwest footprint will continue to grow with this new addition, and further reinforces the ties of all of our offices in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.  Waypoint’s team, and most importantly their values aligned very well with our brand and will do so with the team already established in Minneapolis.”

The Horton Group has nearly 400 employees in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. The Horton Group is an insurance, employee benefits, and risk advisory firm that leads clients with complex needs and limited resources to a higher level of performance. Ranked as the 39th largest insurance broker in the U.S. by Insurance Journal, Horton has been a leader in the insurance brokerage business for almost 50 years.
