Jim Relyea

Jim Relyea joined The Horton Group as Senior Client Executive in May 2013. He has over 30 years of employee benefits experience previously serving as Principal at Mercer Health & Benefits, Area Vice President at Gallagher Benefits Services and Vice President of Health Claims Administration.

Relyea brings an unparalleled depth of knowledge and leadership to his clients who consist of schools and municipalities as well as private and public companies of all sizes. He has a unique perspective on customer service having worked with a diverse group of clients – large and small, insured and self-funded. “I understand that every client is different. I approach my clients ready to listen and develop a solution to fit their needs. Every day I am committed to delivering results.” Relyea’s approach to customer service includes constant availability in order to guide clients through complicated situations.

Relyea is empowered daily by his clients to provide the benefits that fit their needs. “One of my most memorable experiences was helping a young man get a life-saving transplant, when at the time, most transplants were considered experimental.”

There are many changes facing the industry due to Health Care Reform, and Relyea recognizes that employers and employee’s need Horton’s help more than ever to navigate the complex landscape they will face now and in the future. His priority is constantly expanding his knowledge and the number of services he offers clients.

Relyea currently resides in Shorewood, Illinois and is married with three children. He enjoys spending time with his family as well as various outdoor activities including water and snow skiing, hunting and boating.
