The Horton Group is concerned about our environment and endeavors to achieve a high level of corporate social responsibility. We are constantly striving to become more efficient and when possible to optimize on products that limited our carbon foot print. Some ways in which Horton has found a happy compromise between doing the right thing for the environment and ensuring no disruption in client service includes:
Using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) paper materials
The FSC is an independent, non-governmental, non-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. The FSC systems help to prevent habitat destruction and water pollution, as well as helping to protect an indigenous person from displacement and violence that often accompanies logging.
Eco Friendly Supplies
- Green cleaning supplies for all janitorial uses
- Elimination of all Styrofoam supplies
Conservation of Paper
Not only do we use environment friendly paper for our marketing, we strive diligently to limit the use of printing for our internal functions. Below are some strategies we have used to greatly reduce our need for paper:
- Dual Monitors – All customer service staff have two monitors and while that greatly increases productivity of our employees by up to 30%, it also decreases our dependency on paper.
- Digital Media – At Horton, our robust marketing functions include the use of digital media first and paper second.
- Recycling – We encourage all employees to recycle discarded paper. Paper with sensitive information is placed in a secure shredding bin. The remainder is placed in standard blue recycling bins.
