As we move through the second half of 2026, we’re seeing encouraging signs across several areas of the commercial insurance marketplace for moving and storage companies.
Here’s what we’re seeing:
- Commercial Property rates are beginning to soften. Increased carrier competition and additional underwriting capacity are creating opportunities for many well-managed companies to secure improved pricing and broader coverage terms at renewal.
- Commercial Auto Liability remains the most challenging line of coverage. While the pace of rate increases has moderated for best-in-class fleets, rising vehicle repair costs, medical inflation, and nuclear verdicts continue to put upward pressure on premiums – particularly for companies with unfavorable loss experience. Strong safety cultures, telematics, dash cameras, and proactive driver management continue to separate the best-performing fleets from the rest.
- Umbrella and Excess Liability markets remain disciplined. Capacity is available, but underwriters continue to closely evaluate fleet safety, claims history, and overall risk management before offering their most competitive terms.
- Choice matters. Our Moving & Storage Practice has access to virtually every major insurance carrier actively underwriting the moving and storage industry. That allows us to benchmark coverage, pricing, and carrier appetite across the marketplace to help ensure our clients are positioned with the right long-term insurance partner – not simply the lowest premium.
While the overall market is becoming more competitive, insurance companies continue to reward organizations that invest in safety, driver accountability, and effective risk management. Companies that can clearly demonstrate these strengths are generally seeing the most favorable renewal outcomes.
If you’d like to understand how your current insurance program compares to today’s market, we’d be happy to provide a benchmarking review and discuss what we’re seeing across the moving and storage industry.
