On June 5, 2020, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed HB 2455 into law. The new law provides workers’ compensation coverage for essential workers who contract COVID-19 in the workplace. The law provides essential workers with the rebuttable presumption their infection was work-related unless the employer can demonstrate one of three exemptions.
