HSA Administration and Compliance
Properly administering HSA benefits has always been difficult for employers. IRS rules are often complicated, and improper administration can lead to serious tax consequences for the employer and employees.
New benefit arrangements such as concierge medical services and on-site medical clinics can create HSA eligibility issues, and now the IRS has issued new HSA guidance regarding telemedicine and direct primary care arrangements. This session will cover these important issues and other HSA compliance rules such as coordination with Medicare, employer contributions, and more.
Bob Seng, J.D., principal, Benefit Comply, LLC
Bob Seng is an ERISA and employee benefits lawyer with 25 years of experience advising employers on all aspects of their employee benefit plans. Prior to joining Benefit Comply, Bob was a partner with Dorsey & Whitney in Minneapolis. Formerly an assistant general counsel with Target Corporation, Bob was responsible for a legal team advising on all aspects of Target’s employee benefits. Bob served on the policy board of the Washington D.C.-based American Benefits Council, and has served as chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association Section on Employee Benefits.
Amanda Olimb J.D., Senior Consultant, Benefit Comply, LLC
Amanda Olimb is a licensed attorney in the state of Minnesota who specializes in the area of employee benefits. She joined Benefit Comply, LLC in December 2018. Currently she is responsible for answering client helpline questions, providing client fee-for-service project consulting, writing compliance content, and delivering client training both via the web and on-site. Prior to joining Benefit Comply, Amanda worked at a large national brokerage firm as a research and compliance consultant.
