Thomas Richards

Thomas Richards is a Sales Executive for Horton’s Risk Advisory Solutions Division. He is responsible for providing Horton’s clients with comprehensive, cost-effective and innovative solutions to meet their most complex, risk-related challenges and opportunities.

Before joining the insurance industry, Thomas worked in the health and fitness sector, most recently as the owner and Chief Operating Officer of CrossFit Sisu. This experience of owning and growing his business taught him many valuable skills that cross over into the insurance industry, including hiring and training employees, developing leadership skills, building relationships and serving customers on a high level.

“I ran a successful business that revolved around building a community and fostering strong relationships with our membership,” he said. “I’m always interested in talking to people about their personal and professional lives and seeing which new products and ideas can help them grow.”

Thomas has been complimented on his professionalism and prompt communication. His favorite part of his role is finding perfectly tailored solutions to help his clients with their business needs.

“Business owners and decision makers need an expert to help them determine which products are best suited for their business,” he said. “They need to know enough to be deadly, but you need an expert in your corner to know you’re covered when something happens.”

Thomas is from Minnetonka, MN, and currently lives in Hopkins, MN, with his wife, Ellie, and their son, Melvin (with a baby girl on the way). When he is not working, you can typically find Thomas participating in a physical fitness activity, including but not limited to golfing, hiking the mountains, mountain biking or a good gym session. He also enjoys board games and plays weekly with his tight-knit group of friends.
