A member of the Horton team since his college graduation in September, 2010; Tim is an investment for Horton Safety Consultants. Tim's presence will allow Horton Safety to better serve its customers by increasing scheduling flexibility and providing more specialized services including OSHA compliance assistance.
Tim was a collegiate athlete at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater where he wrestled Division III at 141 pounds for two years and studied Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health while managing for an athletic event company in Chicago. Tim has developed essential time management skills and the strong work ethic necessary for a safety career that he credits to his wrestling and work experience.
Through his four year tenure with the athletic event company, Tim performed labor functions and developed management skills related to logistics and transportation. He also developed knowledge for DOT regulations and safety issues associated with: manual materials handling, large vehicles and trailers, traffic control, and on/off road powered industrial trucks.
In a work-study internship this past summer Tim worked with the human diagnostic laboratory administration and building services at a clinic system in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He found numerous ways to make the clinic more compliant with EPA and OSHA requirements, assisted with waste reduction projects, and ensured that hazardous materials were being handled and disposed appropriately. Specifically, Tim created a hazardous waste profile that identified all chemical mixtures used at the clinic and assigned the proper classification and disposal methods for those reagents.
“This was a great learning experience for me. I was in a position where all I could do was improve and progress the current conditions and safety programs. The requirements I implemented and deficiencies I observed were addressed and corrected. I had my hand in changes that would improve employee safety and reduce the negative impact that the hazardous materials were capable of having.”
Tim has set realistic goals to provide quality, customized, and comprehensive services to all clients in any line of work. Tim compliments the current experience of the Horton Safety staff by having a positive attitude, openness for new learning opportunities, and willingness to exceed expectations.
“I am blessed, and can't think of a better opportunity to pursue right out of school. I have the support and expertise of experienced safety professionals that are truly passionate about what they do. I look forward to a long, successful career with Horton Safety.”
